Three officers, from different parts of the world, suffer grievous losses and must battle a hidden evil enemy as well as their own governments to unravel a dangerous mystery. What is the Silk Fist conspiracy, and will they expose the true culprits before it is too late?
Sergeant Christopher Wyatt of the British Royal Protection Squad has been framed by a powerful source from the Russian media, linking him with Silk Fist, a mysterious conspiracy that threatens world peace. Mistrusted and branded a renegade traitor by the British authorities, he must clear his name by finding the true origin of these dangerous attacks.
Linda Marquez is a sergeant of the United States Secret Service and trusted special assistant to the First Lady, until she is betrayed by a member of the US intelligence services or someone within the White House. No longer able to trust her own government, she puts aside her initial deep distrust of Wyatt to protect herself from these new enemies and prove her innocence.
At the Indian Intelligence Service, Premendra Dhawan risks his own career to gather intelligence about the Silk Fist attacks. Together with Marquez and Wyatt, he must decipher a hard won series of clues that point to the upper echelons of the British and American governments, and a devastating attack on a gathering of world leaders…
Can the three officers put their mistrust and suspicion of each other aside in order to expose the deadly plot? Will they ever discover the reasons behind the attacks? And will the ultimate secret of who is behind the Silk Fist conspiracy be revealed?
An entertaining thriller, The Silk Fist Conspiracy is set in many exotic and fascinating parts of the world. It is an ideal read for those who have an appreciation for facts, recent history and for a gripping thriller. Featuring several red herring characters and a collection of puzzling clues, the book will keep readers guessing, chapter after chapter. With an equal balance of tough action and deepening relationships, this is a story that keeps the reader enthralled and surprised until the very end.
I began writing The Silk Fist Conspiracy before the likes of Edward Snowden blew the whistle on the incredible amount of surveillance being carried out by both the American and British intelligence gathering organisations. Such surveillance forms a part of the story and I was amazed, not by Snowden's revelations but because they caused such a fuss, as if nobody knew before. The level of government spying has been public knowledge, if anyone cared to look, for many years. I did a lot of research on the internet about such surveillance and came up with more than enough true material for my novel. Also, the extent of the banking scandals of recent years have caused worldwide outrage but the extent of these scandals do not seem to have penetrated the consciousness of the public as much as they should have done. The information given in The Silk Fist Conspiracy about the frankly incredible levels of insane gambling, there is no other phrase, by banks and insurance companies on derivatives and other dubious products is completely true. That was part of the inspiration for The Silk Fist Conspiracy. I created what I hope are some likeable characters to cheer for, some dastardly villains to get their comeuppance, a baffling mystery that the reader can possibly solve themselves, all in a package which, to use an old fashioned phrase, adds up to a 'rattling good yarn'.
This book kept me interested and turning the pages. Although I had an idea of the outcome three quarters of the way through it still kept me entertained all the way to the end. I thoroughly enjoy the works of Tom Clancy, and this would be right up there with his best. Would not hesitate to read more books by this author.
This is a crime thriller suspense mystery full of intrigue, Bouncing back and forth between countries there is a conspiracy to kill or be killed. Its a typical whodunnit with lots of characters, full of assassinations terrorism, murder at its most deadly which affects police forces around the globe and a Mr Big who is the mastermind behind everything, its edge of seat reading and you are pivoted on a roller coaster of a ride.
I read Stedman's historical fiction Chronicles of Pauncefoot and Longshanks and really enjoyed it. He writes clearly and doesn't hang about. Thrillers not my thing but I tried Silk Fist Conspiracy. Writing just as good and clear. Wasn't too sure after first chapter but then I quickly got involved with the characters and Stedman cleverly leaves a cliffhanger at end of a chapter. He scatters clues around, which is fun, and that also makes you want to read on. Maybe two or three chapters were unnecessary but he doesn't stray for long. I liked that the characters were as important as action although the action is tough and convincing. I also liked the chapter headings which give location and a time frame, just like he did in his history novel, because action takes place in many places around the world, which is fun. I thought I could see where the plot was going but Stedman keeps a couple of real surprises up his sleeve and the story finishes with a satisfying end, unlike many thrillers, and ties up the loose ends. I found myself wanting to keep reading when I should have been doing other things and what more can you ask from a book. It's restored my faith in thrillers.
Someone recommended this to take on holiday and she was not wrong. I was afraid it might be all boy's toys and macho action but all the characters were convincing and interesting rather than some bang bang you're dead scenario. I was hoping that the hero and heroine would get together! Do they? Read the book! The plot is intricate but the author always makes it clear exactly where we are and what is going on. I loved the exotic locations. One or two of what you might call the politically oriented chapters seemed to go a bit too long, that's why only four stars, but I never wanted to stop reading, and the ending was as gripping and satisfying as any novel I've ever read. Highly recommended.
